What is this about?

The Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA) began when Dr. Jaime Gonzalez Cano, director of the National Park West Coast of Isla Mujeres, British artist Jason de Caires Taylor and Roberto Diaz, then president of the Nautical Association met to discuss how to save the areas and local reef damage caused by hurricanes and visitors arriving each year

The sculptures are made of marine cement and the seafloor in order to promote the growth of coral reefs.

The gallery below shows the statues you can see when snorkeling tour at MUSA

Our snorkeling tour at the museum; begins with a relaxing stroll on a family boat. Tour departs from Aquaworld and takes you by the turquoise water ocean to reach the site where the area is "Silent Evolution". Here begins your snorkeling adventure to witness the most impressive statues, seen from the surface.
